William "Chopper" Stanley Courtney

Hardinsburg, IN, William Stanley “Chopper” Courtney, age 75, passed away Tuesday, January 11, 2022 at Baptist Health Floyd. Chopper was born in Georgetown, IN, on January 26, 1946 to Thomas and Mary Courtney. He married Karen (Durbin) Courtney on March, 05, 1982. He was a man of several talents that worked hard his whole life for his family. Chopper was a member of the Mason’s Lodge, Blue River 457. He served in the United States Army and was a Vietnam War Veteran. He proudly served and believed in what America stood for. He enjoyed working on his tractors, being outdoors, and spending time with family.

Chopper is preceded in death by his parents.

He is survived by his wife; his four children, Michael (Dion) Courtney, Shawna (Troy) Bell, Matthew (Shelley McKinley) Courtney, Lorie Ragland; seven grandchildren, Cassandra (Michael) Sanders, Elizabeth Curtsinger, Joclyn Ragland, Justin Bell, Rhi Ragland, Evan Ragland, Jacob Bell; five great-grandchildren, Xander, Colton, Benny, Madison, and Christian; as well as three brothers and four sisters.

Funeral service will be held at 1 p.m. on Saturday, January 15, 2022, at Love Funeral Home. Visitation will be the same day from 10 a.m. until time of service. Interment will be at Kays Chapel Cemetery in Fredericksburg, IN. In Lieu of flowers family ask that you donate to an Epilepsy Foundation, Humane Society, or a charity of your choice.
