February 6, 1924 - July 15th, 2024
Born one century ago on February 6th, 1924, Tuck Lindsey became the 5th of nine children of the late William Perlie and Emma Lindsey. He grew up in the small town of Big Reedy, Kentucky.
Excelling in academics, especially mathematics. He loved to tell of "turning down the whole class, even the teacher," at ciphering matches. He graduated as valedictorian of his class at Sunfish high school. He went on to study bookkeeping at Spencerian College.
In 1943, he received an invitation from President Roosevelt, and so began his service with the Army Air Corp. While stationed at Fort Bragg, North Carolina, he met his beautiful bride, Belma Harris. They were married on February 17, 1946. In 1954, Tuck accepted a position at Jacobi Sales and relocated to Palmyra, Indiana. They built a life together for 60 years, raised their two children, and were lifelong members of the Church of Christ. Tuck retired as parts manager from Jacobi's in 1989.
After his 35-year career, he continued to work actively on the farm well into his 90s. Tuck enjoyed mowing hay, gardening, hauling grain, and keeping an active eye on the grain market. He delighted in telling his favorite stories and enjoying time with his grandchildren.
After his first wife's passing, Tuck married Helen Oakley of Greensboro, North Carolina on January 12th, 2008. They were newlyweds for 5 years, until she passed. Through whatever storms life brought his way, Tuck brought a steadying force and joy to all who knew him.
