Floyds Knobs, IN, Stephen Lynn Cotton, age 70, passed away at his home on Tuesday, June 21, 2022 surrounded by his loving family. Steve was born in the backseat of a taxi cab in Louisville, KY on March 05, 1952 to Daymond Cotton and Mildred (Payton) Proctor. He liked to say he had been on the “road” ever since. Steve married Lori (Seyfried) Cotton on August 29, 1981. He received an Associate’s Degree from Indiana University Southeast in 2000. Steve was a United States Marine veteran serving from 1970-1976. He was a coffee-drinking, animal-loving goofball, who loved reading books by his uncle, Ralph Cotton, and Kurt Vonnegut. Steve was a talented writer and storyteller himself. He enjoyed spending time in nature, listening to music, smoking his pipe, and spending time with family. His faith in God’s Word was strong and brought him comfort and strength in his final days.
Steve is preceded in death by his parents and several siblings.
He is survived by his loving wife Lori; three children Ben Cotton, Jennifer (Nick) Goodlett, Meredith (Jimmy) Mallas; three beloved grandchildren Eleanor Cotton, Bryan Cotton, Julia Goodlett; as well as three siblings Danny Cotton, Diane Bohannon, Linda Proctor.
Funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. on Wednesday, June 29, 2022, at Love Funeral Home in Palmyra, IN. Visitation will be on the same day from 10 a.m. until time of service. The funeral service will be streamed on Love Funeral Home’s Facebook page at 2 p.m. Wednesday. Interment will be at Greenlawn Cemetery in Greenville, IN.
