Shirley Lea (Miller) Wright, age 76, of Salem, IN, passed away on November 19, 2023. She was born on June 4, 1947, to Darrell "Doc" and Wilma May (Miller) Miller in New Albany, IN. Shirley dedicated many years of her life to serving as a nurse, a profession that reflected her caring and compassionate nature.
On June 4, 1964, Shirley married the love of her life, Earl Wright, and together they built a life in Salem, IN. She was a devoted member of the Big Springs Church of Christ in Pekin, IN, finding solace and community in her faith. Shirley's passion for creativity led her to enjoy making jewelry, and her adventurous spirit manifested in her love for travel. However, above all, she cherished moments spent with her beloved family.
Shirley is preceded in death by her parents, husband Earl Wright, and her brother Gene Miller. She leaves behind a legacy of love and cherished memories.
She is survived by her loving son, Jeff (Sherry) Wright, and two devoted daughters, Amy (Jeff) Roll and Dana Wright. Shirley was a proud grandmother to Tessa (Andrew) Lothery, Colter Wright, Cody (Kaelyn) Roll, Devon Roll, Caden Roll, Clayce (Emily) Roll, Brittany (Adam) Hobbs, and Shay Jackson. Her family continued to grow with fifteen great-grandchildren. Shirley is also survived by her three sisters: Joyce (Jerry) Mull, Phyllis Graves, Cindi (Brian) Arbuckle, and sister-in-law Mary Miller.
Cremation was chosen as Shirley's final wish, with Love Funeral Home entrusted with the arrangements. As we mourn the loss of this remarkable woman, let us remember and celebrate the vibrant life Shirley Lea Wright lived and the love she shared with all who were fortunate enough to know her. May she rest in eternal peace.
