Palmyra, IN: Roy W. "Speedy" McClanahan, age 77, passed away on Wednesday March 4, 2020, at Harrison Springs Health Care Center, Corydon, IN, surrounded by his loving family. He was born in Richmond, IN on May 14, 1942 to the late Francis and Cellia (Crawford) McClanahan. He served in the United States Marine Corps and was a member of the VFW post #6636 in Salem, Indiana. Roy served as a former Town of Palmyra board president, as a special deputy to the Harrison County Police Department, and as Palmyra's Town Marshall. He was also a retired truck driver, a job that took him to all fifty states. Roy had a great love for his family, friends and his dog Rocky. His hobbies were old cars, studying politics, watching IU basketball, old western movies as well as playing cards, and spending time with his life-long friends including Donnie Baylor, Vivian and Norris Rudolph, Frank Melton, and many more.
In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his brother John Allen McClanahan, and sister Doris Amy.
Survivors include one son Jackie (Vicky Adams) McClanahan, one daughter Cindy (Bob) Seaman, Jenny L. McClanahan, his grandchildren Shelby Lynn, Hannah, and Maxx, his brother Thomas Irvin McClanahan, and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral Service will be at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, March 7, 2020 at Love Funeral Home in Palmyra with burial in Central Barren Cemetery. Visitation will be from 2:00 pm. to 8:00 p.m. Friday, March 6, 2020, and from 9:00 a.m. Saturday until time of the service at 11:00 a.m.
