New Albany- Ronald Gene Miller, age 74, went to his heavenly home on August 30, 2022, at Lincoln Hills Health Center in New Albany, IN, following a brief illness. He was born in New Albany, IN, to Marshall and Ruth (Yaeger) Miller in 1948. A lifelong Hoosier, Ron attended New Albany High School then graduated from Indiana University, majoring in business administration. He enjoyed a long and very successful career with Liberty Mutual Insurance as a senior account representative. Ron was a true ‘bon vivant’ – a fun loving person who enjoyed life and lived it to its fullest. Fine dining, traveling, gambling, golf, college sports (go IU!), NASCAR racing, horse racing and watching his beloved NY Yankees - all enjoyed with cherished friends. His devotion to IU basketball during Coach Knight years is legendary. His legacy is one of good will toward all – a gentle, kind, loving gracious and charitable spirit, a man among men, by those that knew and loved him. An enduring blessing to their lives. His strong Christian faith was the cornerstone of his life and his deep, loving relationship with the Lord was his strength and sustenance. Ron’s life was a testament to a favorite Bible verse, Ephesians 4:32 “And be kind and compassionate to one another, forgiving one another, just as God also forgave you in Christ.” Rest in peace, gentle Prince.
Ron is preceded in death by his parents, one sister, Clarice Winot; and one brother, Donald.
He is survived by his beloved Godson and best buddy Tyler; a niece, several great
nieces and great nephews, and many friends.
Funeral service will be held in the Chapel of the Cross mausoleum, located at Kraft Graceland Cemetery in New Albany, IN, on Friday, September 9, 2022, at 12:00 P.M. In lieu of flowers, donations to the Salvation Army or Disabled American Veterans, Ron’s favorite charities, may be made in his honor.
