Robert Buchanan Courtney

Robert Buchanan Courtney, 49, of New Salisbury, Indiana, passed away on April 22, 2026.

He was born on July 15, 1976, in Louisville, Kentucky, to Robert Courtney and Carolyn Courtney-Hatfield. Robert was a 1995 graduate of Mitchell Junior-Senior High School. He went on to work for utility companies in Mitchell and Salem, Indiana, and was a proud member of the Indiana Laborers Union.

Robert made his home in New Salisbury, where he embraced a life close to the outdoors. He found great joy in fishing, hunting, mushroom hunting, riding four-wheelers, and spending time in nature.

He was preceded in death by his mother, Carolyn Irene Courtney-Hatfield.

Robert is survived by his father, Robert A. Courtney (Lynne); his sister, Christina Courtney; his nephews, Justin Jarvis and Zane Burris; his niece, Carly Alvey; his grandparents, Ray and Sandy Graham; and numerous aunts, uncles, and cousins; the love of his life, Mistie Chastain; and friends who will cherish his memory.

Cremation was chosen, with Love Funeral Home in charge of arrangements. A memorial celebration will be held at a later date.
