Richard Jones

Greenville, IN, Richard “Pop” Jones, age 81, passed away peacefully at Baptist Health Floyd Hospital in New Albany, IN, on October 16, 2022, surrounded by his beloved family. Rich was born on July 25, 1941 to Escoe and Lucille (Oates) Jones in Milltown, IN. He married Patricia (Young) Jones on May 8, 1965. Rich worked and retired from General Electric working many years as a laborer and foreman. He was a long time member of the Greenville Masonic Lodge. Rich was an avid fisherman, hunter and outdoorsman. He enjoyed playing music, watching westerns, and gardening. Rich loved his family and cherished the time he got to spend with his grandchildren and great- grandchildren.

He is preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, David, Billy Gene; two sisters, Betty, Freda Mae; and one faithful companion “Harley”.   

Rich is survived by his wife; three daughters, Rhonda Martin, Elizabeth (Charles) Shinkle, Susan (Marvin) Whittaker; four grandchildren, Zachary (Holly) Shinkle, Richard Shinkle, Emily (Chris) Balg, Piper Whittaker; four great- grandchildren, Cody Shinkle, Sarah Shinkle, Hayden Tatom, and Mason Balg.

Visitation will be from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Sunday October 23, 2022, at Love Funeral Home in Palmyra, IN. Funeral Service will be held on the same day at 2 p.m. In Lieu of flowers donations can be made in Richard’s name to St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital.
