Naomi Marie (Naville) Brockman

Naomi Marie Brockman, age 90, of Greenville, IN, passed peacefully into the arms of her Heavenly Father on August 23, 2025 surrounded by her loving family.

She was born on November 21, 1934, in Floyds Knobs, IN, to Herman Sr. and Josephine (McKinley) Naville. Naomi began her education in the one-room schoolhouse of St. Mary’s Navilleton and graduated from New Albany High School in the Class of 1952. She later earned a Master’s Degree in Education from Indiana University.

Naomi married the love of her life, Joseph Brockman, and they shared 57 wonderful years together. She dedicated over 26 years of her life as a beloved teacher at Morgan Elementary before retiring

A devout member of St. Michael Catholic Church in Bradford, IN, Naomi also belonged to the Legion of Mary Auxiliary and the National Education Association. Her faith and family were always the heart of her life.

Naomi found joy in the simple pleasures- playing cards, gardening, and helping run the family farm. She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother whose love and guidance will be cherished for generations. Naomi was a kind and compassionate soul who will be greatly missed.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her beloved husband, Joseph; her brothers, Earl Naville and Herman Naville Jr.; sisters-in-law, Doris Naville and Mary Naville; and brother-in-law, Bob Blessing.

Naomi is survived by her loving children, Stephen (Juanita) Brockman and Mary Jo (Jerry) Whittaker; grandchildren, Brett Whittaker, Ashley (Ben) Elliott, and Adam (Chelsie) Whittaker; great-grandson, Bryce Whittaker, and a soon-to-arrive great-grandson, Winston Whittaker. She is also survived by her brother, Eugene Naville, and sister, Elizabeth Blessing; two sisters-in-law Marcella Naville, Bonnie Huber-Naville, as well as numerous nieces, nephews, and friends.

Visitation will be held at St. Michael Catholic Church in Bradford, IN, on Thursday, August 28, 2025, from 2:00 PM to 8:00 PM, and again on Friday, August 29, 2025, from 9:00 AM to 11:00 AM.

A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 11:00 AM on Friday, August 29, 2025, at St. Michael Catholic Church, followed by burial at St. Michael's Cemetery.
