Michael Scott Matherly

Michael Scott Matherly, age 63, of Palmyra, Indiana, passed away on November 9, 2025.

He was born on April 22, 1962, in Huron, South Dakota to Lyman and Marcella (McMillan) Matherly. Michael was a proud graduate of North Harrison High School, Class of 1980. He worked for many years as a warehouse employee with Kroger, where he made lasting friendships before retiring.

On July 29, 1986, Michael married the love of his life, Hattie (Sizemore) Matherly. Together they made their home in Palmyra, Indiana. Michael enjoyed bowling, playing corn hole, watching football, and most of all, spending time with his family. Known for his warm heart and quick wit, Michael loved sharing a good joke and bringing laughter to those around him.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Lyman and Marcella Matherly; his brother, Dave Matherly; and his daughter, Samantha Matherly.

Michael is survived by his loving wife, Hattie Matherly; his sons, Andrew Matherly and Aaron Matherly; his brothers, Donnie Matherly, Gale Matherly, and Lyman Matherly, Jr.; his sister, Cheryl Kidder; and his beloved granddaughters, Datura Matherly and Gracie Ryan.

Visitation will be held from 10:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. on Friday, November 14, 2025, at Love Funeral Home in Palmyra, Indiana. Funeral services will follow at 1:00 p.m. at the funeral home. Burial will take place in Palmyra Cemetery.
