Mark Edward Rake

Corydon, IN, Mark Edward Rake, passed away peacefully at his home on Tuesday September 13, 2022. He was born on May 25, 1955 in New Albany, IN, to Edward and Martha (Graf) Rake. Mark married Cheryl (Amrein) Rake on November 18, 2000. He owned and operated Starlight Cabinet Company, later working and retiring from Schmidt Cabinet Company in New Salisbury, IN. Mark enjoyed music and played the drums for Grace Assembly of God in Palmyra, IN for many years. He also found joy in woodworking, fishing, playing Euchre, and talking politics with anyone who would listen. Mark loved “Family Christmas” celebrations and spending time with, and humbly serving his family.

  He is preceded in death by his parents; two faithful companions Speck and Baby.

Mark is Survived by his wife; five children, Shawnacee (Tim) Coomer, Vanessa (Pete) Rake, Patricia C. Rake, Edward T. (Brenda) Rake, Derek (Chris) Rake. Three bonus children, Jessica (Steve) Powers, Justin Berry, Derron (Courtney) Amrein; eight grandchildren, Noah ( Haleigh Cooley) Deem, Elijah Coomer, Mark Issac Coomer, Melrose Rake, Mikeala Rake, Mavis Rake, Marabelle Rake, Addison Amrein; four sisters, Diane (Larry) Martin, Theresa (Gene) Sprigler, Marilyn (John) Rowan, Paula (Greg) Andres; as well as two faithful companions Reese, and Chance.

Funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. on Monday September 19, 2022, at Love Funeral Home in Palmyra, IN. Visitation will be on the same day from 10 a.m. until time of service. Cremation was chosen with Love Funeral Home in charge of services. In Lieu of flowers donations can be made to Terri’s Critter Care (Terri Bailey) Rescue at 1250 Zoar Church Road, Corydon, IN, 47112.
