Kendall Smith

On Wednesday evening, April 8, 2020, Mr. Kendall Grant Smith of Georgetown, Indiana, widower and father of three, passed away at the age of 71.

Kendall was born on September 4, 1948 in New Albany, Indiana to his parents, Kenneth and Addie May Smith, and was a lifelong resident of Georgetown. He grew up the middle child of three and attended Georgetown High School. In 1968, he married his high school sweetheart, Pauletta Faye Emerson, and shortly thereafter enlisted into the United States Navy. He served in the Vietnam War aboard the U.S.S. Newport News as a Communications Yeoman, returning home in 1970.

Kendall and Pauletta had three children, as he began his career at Bell South Telephones where he worked until he retired in 1998 at the age of 50. Throughout his life, Kendall had a passion for fishing and bow hunting. He made many trips around the United States doing what he loved and shared that passion with many friends over the years.

Kendall was preceded in death by his wife of 45 years, Pauletta Smith, in 2013. He is survived by his three children, Jason, Jeremy and Jessica, and 6 grandchildren.

In light of the COVID-19 crisis, his family had an intimate viewing for the children and grandchildren on Friday, April, 10, before his body was cremated. Once the pandemic has been contained and we gather again without fear, the family will hold a Celebration of Life to lay his ashes next to the love of his life at Wolfe Cemetery, Georgetown, Indiana. The family will make the plans public at a future date.
