Katherine Ellis (Seibert) Smith

Hardinsburg, IN, Katherine “Kitty” Ellis (Seibert) Smith, age 85, passed away peacefully at her home on Sunday, January 09, 2022. She was born January 23, 1936 in Louisville, KY, to the late Arthur J. and Maude E. (Short) Seibert. Kitty graduated from du Pont Manual High School in Louisville, KY. She married Donald O’Neal Smith on November 23, 1953. Kitty was a stay at home mother and raised three sons and one husband. She enjoyed gardening, canning, camping, traveling, Yahtzee, and U.K. Basketball. Kitty was also active in her community.

She is preceded in death by her parents, husband, and one grandchild Jeremy Bary.

Kitty is survived by her three sons, Dennis Wayne (Pattie) Smith of Farmington, Missouri, David Seibert (Camie Rigg) Smith of Charlotte, Tennessee, Douglas Randall (Brenda) Smith of Hardinsburg, Indiana; five grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; one half-sister, Johnielynne Whitaker of Florida; one step sister, Linda Rodan of Delaware; as well as one faithful companion “Bella”.

Graveside service will be held at 1p.m. on Thursday, January, 13, 2022 at Hardinsburg Cemetery. A Celebration of life gathering will be held on Sunday, September 4, 2022 at the Smith family farm. Love Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
