Julia Marie (McCracken) Baylor

Palmyra, IN, Julia Marie (McCracken) Baylor, age 62, passed away on Saturday May 07, 2022 at Harrison County Hospital in Corydon Indiana. She was born in New Albany, IN, on October 27, 1959 to Leonard and Joyce (Watson) McCracken. Julia Married Roy D. Baylor in August 27, 1988.She was a member of the Palmyra United Methodist Church. Julia began a long successful career with Blue River Services in 1977.  She has served as the Blue River Services Director of Children’s Services for the past 15 years. Prior to serving as an outstanding and dedicated agency Director, she worked in other administrative leadership rolls within the agency including Accounts Payable Coordinator, HR Manager, and Administrative Assistant to the CEO. She served on several community advisory boards and committees including the National Association for the Education of Young Children (NAEYC), Prevent Child Abuse Harrison County, CCLC Advisory Board for several school systems including NAFC, Medora Community Schools, East Washington Schools & North Harrison Community Schools. Julia was a 2009 alumni of Leadership Harrison County. Her legacy of love and caring for her community will live on.  Julia enjoyed leading the children’s ministry at her church, spending time with her grandchildren, and being active in the community.

She is preceded in death by her father; and husband.

Julia is survived by her mother; one daughter, Anna (Adam) Marrs; three sisters, Joyce Lynn Donaldson, Jacqueline (Grant) Belles, Rita Jane (Victor) Butt; one brother, Leonard “Pete” McCracken JR.; five grandchildren, Nicholas (Taylor) Marrs, Noah Marrs, Abbygale Marrs, Neven Marrs, and Adalyn Grace Marrs.

Funeral service will be held 11 a.m. on Saturday May 14, 2022 at Love Funeral Home in Palmyra, IN. Visitation will be held on Friday May 13, 2022 from 2 p.m. to 8 p.m. and again on Saturday May 14, 2022 from 9 a.m. until time of service at Love Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers donations can be made in Julia’s name to the Children’s Ministry at Palmyra United Methodist Church.
