John "Jerry" Gerald Weir

Greenville, IN, John Gerald “Jerry” Weir, age 71, passed away at his home, surrounded by his family on January 23, 2022. Jerry was born in Louisville, KY, on May 10, 1950, to John Oliver and Elsie Marie (Alford) Weir. He married Cynthia Ann (Dennis) Weir on October 02, 1971.  He was a member of Georgetown Southern Baptist Church and enjoyed his Saturday men’s Bible Study held at his home.  Jerry worked for Vulcan Hart Corporation for 22 years and later as a master Electrician. He boasted that he wired the FedEx building at Louisville International Airport and the EBay warehouse in Danville, Virginia. Jerry enjoyed bird and deer hunting, fishing and was an avid sportsman. He was a loving husband, father, brother, and “Pappaw”.  

He is preceded in death by his parents; one brother, John Anthony Weir; and twin sister, Nancy Carol Weir.

Jerry is survived by his wife of fifty years; three children, Jennifer Weir, Jonathan Wesley (Tiffany) Weir, Mary Martin; one sister Susie (Danny) Bryant; as well as six grandchildren, one great-granddaughter; and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held at 12 p.m. on Saturday January 29, 2022, at Love Funeral Home in Palmyra, IN. Visitation will be held from 2 p.m. to 8 p.m. on Friday January 28, 2022, and again on Saturday January 29, 2022, from 10 a.m. until time of service at Love Funeral Home. Interment will be at Greenlawn Cemetery in Greenville, IN. In Lieu of flowers donations can be made in Jerry’s name to Crusade for Children at 520 West Chestnut Street Louisville, KY 40202.
