John Conklin Obituary

John Phillip Conklin, 57, of Sellersburg, Indiana, unexpectedly passed away on January 19, 2026.

John was born on May 18, 1968, in Jeffersonville, Indiana, to James Patrick and Mary Helen (Pearson) Conklin. He was a graduate of Clarksville High School, Class of 1987. John devoted over thirty-three and a half years to Heidelberg Materials in Jeffersonville, Indiana, where he proudly served in his most recent role as an Indiana Quality Control Supervisor. In addition to his career, he was a former player and assistant football coach at Clarksville High School.

On December 1, 2003, John married Julie (Hobson) Conklin. Together, they made their home in Sellersburg, Indiana. John was a member of Colgate Baptist Church in Clarksville, Indiana.

John was the captain of the Little Blue Queen out of the port of Alton, a place where countless special memories were made with family and friends. He enjoyed fishing, fossil collecting, mushroom hunting, and spending time outdoors, but nothing brought him greater joy than time spent with his wife, Julie. He was a man deeply loved by his family, and those who knew him best understood that when John loved, he loved big.

He was preceded in death by his father, James Patrick Conklin.

John is survived by the Conklin Clan; his mother, Mary Helen Conklin; his wife, Julie Conklin; sisters Sheri (Steve) Wagner, Shelli (Mac) Spainhour, and DeeDee Conklin (Mike); brother Jimmy (Sandy) Conklin; nephews Steve (Nisha) Wagner, Sean Wagner, Bo (Brittany) Spainhour, and Kevin (Rebecca) Conklin; nieces Alex (Alex) Knerr and Alexandra (Derek) McNew; and several great nieces and a great nephew along with many extended family members and friends who will miss him dearly.

John was and will continue to be our "Angel".
