Jenny Marie (Wynn) Shawler

Family and friends are invited to attend visitation and celebrate the life of Jenny Shawler at Love’s Funeral Home in Palmyra, IN. Visitation will be on Saturday December 19, 2020 from 9-1 with funeral at 1pm and graveside service following at Kay’s Chapel Cemetary. Jenny passed unexpectedly on Monday, December 14.

She was 56 years young, born on June 3, 1964 to Janet Hunt. She was an only child. Her grandparents also played a significant role in helping raise her. Jenny was born and raised in Salem, IN. She graduated in 1982 from Salem High School. She then had her first child, Brandon, in 1983. She went on to have more children which became her main focus in life. Curtis was born in 1986, Cassie in 1988 and Lisa Marie in 1993. Shortly thereafter she decided she wanted to go back to school and got her accounting degree, which was a feat being a single mother to 4 children and also working full time. She was extremely proud of this accomplishment as she should have been and wouldn’t have done it any other way. Her mother Janet provided much needed support during this time which was never forgotten. Despite juggling all of this, she never missed a beat. She was a dedicated mother first and foremost. She kept up with parent teacher conferences, hosting her kid’s birthday parties year after year, dentist and eye Dr appointments, you name it. Throughout her kids lives she adopted many of her children’s friends and became their ‘bonus mom’. Her house was always full of kids. Especially when anyone found out what was for supper-whether it be her world famous cheeseburgers, chicken enchiladas or egg rolls just to name a few. She absolutely loved to cook. Even after her children left the home she still cooked ‘for an army’, stating “I don’t know how else to cook!”. But wait! She also loved to bake. At Christmas time you would think you walked into a candy store! Amongst these things her other hobbies included gardening, fishing and quilting, and basically anything that had to do with helping others.

She worked only a few jobs after she completed her Associate’s degree in Accounting in 1997 which consisted of O.P. Link Handle Co, Industrial Wood and Light up Toys Inc. She was always a loyal employee and made friends anywhere she went.

In 2014 she married Troy Shawler(Laconia) who survives. She leaves behind 3 children, Curtis Wynn(Palmyra), Cassie Baird(Kyle)(Crandall), and Lisa(Wynn) Kellems(Tell City). She had 2 bonus children, Brandon Rockey(Shepherdsville, KY), Nicole (Shawler) Overshiner(Darren)(Salem). 3 grandchildren Nevaeh and Jackson Leffler and Taya Wynn. 5 bonus grandchildren, Hunter, Trevin and Royal. Also Zoey and Corbin. Her mother Janet (Hopper) Hunt also survives. She had one cousin, Elizabeth Hopper who also survives.

She is preceded in death by her son Brandon Wynn and her grandparents Rosa and Deward Hopper.

She especially loved her role as ‘Mimi’, who is now their ‘invisible angel ghost’.

Jenny never bragged on herself and anyone who knew her knew how humble and selfless she truly was. She never stopped doing and thinking about others even in her last days. She had a grateful heart and was thankful for the simple things in life. Rich without being rich. This statement would best describe her. Her will to live outcasted any doubt in her mind. Her traits and personality will live on in her children she leaves behind.

There is comfort in knowing her son Brandon greeted her and that she will be spending Christmas with him and for the remainder of our time here until we are greeted as well. In lieu of flowers, family is asking for donations to aide in funeral expenses in regards to her untimely passing.
