Janice Marie Parks

Janice Marie Parks, 77, of Palmyra, IN, passed away peacefully surrounded by her loving family on September 10, 2025. Born on February 5, 1948, in New Albany, IN, to Charles and Mable (Sweeney) Castleberry, Janice was a loving mother, grandmother, and friend, whose presence will be deeply missed by all who knew her.

Janice was a graduate of Jeffersonville High School and spent much of her life dedicated to her family and community. She worked for the Harrison County Parks Department, where she made lasting connections with colleagues and residents alike.

On August 27, 1977, she married David O. Parks, Sr., and together they built a life in Palmyra, IN, filled with love and memories. Janice was passionate about traveling, cooking, and-above all-spending time with her beloved family and friends. Her warmth and generosity were felt by all who had the privilege of knowing her.

Janice is preceded in death by her parents, her husband David O. Parks, Sr., and her son, George Peter “Gus” Heald.

She is survived by her daughter, Judy (Daniel) Sieg; daughter, Melissa (Kevin) Maxey; son, David O. (Jody) Parks, Jr.; daughter, Valerie Lockard; brothers, Mickey Castleberry and Ray (Burma) Castleberry; as well as numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren who were a source of immense pride and joy in her life.

A visitation will be held from 10:00 AM to 2:00 PM on September 20, 2025, at Love Funeral Home in Palmyra, IN, with funeral services immediately following at 2:00 PM. Cremation will take place after the service.

Janice's love and kindness will live on as her legacy. She will be forever remembered for her unwavering love, her infectious laughter, and the beautiful memories she leaves behind.
