Geraldine (Crawford) Porenski

Geraldine (Crawford) Porenski, loving mother, grandmother, and sister, joined her husband Harry Stephen Porenski Jr. in heaven during the early morning hours of Tuesday, July 26, 2022. She was 80 years old.

Geraldine was born in Goose Rock, KY on August 7, 1941 to the late Henry and Bessie (Herd) Crawford. Gerry married the love of her life, Harry Stephen Porenski, Jr. on August 19, 1967. She dedicated her working years to serving customers at Lincoln Federal Savings and Loan in Louisville, KY, and The Kitchen Gallery after the family’s move to Warner Robins, GA in 1990. Gerry and Harry returned to Corydon, IN in 2001, where they enjoyed living near extended family and serving in the New Salisbury Lions Club. Gerry sadly lost Harry in 2020, and moved to Bonaire to live with her daughter Lisa. Since moving to Bonaire, she enjoyed reading, doing puzzles, traveling, attending church, spoiling Millie the family dog, and seeing old friends, but going to her grandchildren’s activities gave her the most joy.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Harry Stephen Porenski, Jr.; and brothers Henry “Junior” and Luther Crawford.

Those left to cherish her memory are her loving daughter, Lisa (Jake) Hardegree of Bonaire; grandchildren, Hannah, Seth, and Hadyn Hardegree; brothers, Robert, Bill (Pat), Charlie (Janie), Ray (Jennifer), Eugene (Diana) and Ernie Crawford; sisters, Edna Carney, Mamie Burnside, Wanda Rhodes, and Virginia Darlene (John) Tackett; and numerous nieces and nephews.

A memorial service celebrating Gerry’s life will be held September 3, 2022 at 1:00 pm at Central Barren United Methodist Church. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be sent to the New Salisbury Lions Club.
