Georgia Riley Obituary

Georgia Ann Riley, age 92, of Corydon, Indiana, passed away peacefully on May 16, 2025.

She was born on August 16, 1932, in Jamestown, New York, to the late George and Lucille (Shaw) Siggins. A 1950 graduate of Southwestern High School in Jamestown, Georgia dedicated her life to her family and community, working as a devoted homemaker.

Georgia was a longtime member of the Palmyra United Methodist Church in Palmyra, Indiana, as well as a proud member of the Harrison County Homemakers Club. She also held the distinction of being a fifty-year member of the P.E.O. Sisterhood, a philanthropic organization supporting women’s education.

A woman of deep faith and many interests, Georgia found joy in writing poetry, participating in Bible study, reading, and music. Above all, she cherished time spent with her family and friends.

She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Pat Riley; her parents; two sisters, Carolyn Kingsbury and Elizabeth Bailey; and her brother, Karl Gustafson.

Georgia is survived by her children: Steve (Debbie) Mitchener, Nancy Klein, Sharon (Terry Peoples) Mitchener, and Donna Mandell; her sister, Lucy Arnone; thirteen grandchildren; twenty great-grandchildren; and her first husband Al Mitchener.

Visitation will be held from 1:30 p.m. to 3:00 p.m. on Friday, May 23, 2025, at Palmyra United Methodist Church in Palmyra, Indiana. A funeral service will follow at 3:00 p.m. at the church. Burial will take place at Hancock Chapel Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made in Georgia’s name to the Harrison County Community Foundation, 1523 Foundation Way NE, Corydon, IN 47112.
