Gail Lynn Stewart, age 72, of Pekin, Indiana, passed away on February 26, 2025. She was born on December 17, 1952, to Dirk and Alice (Tisher) Cook in Chicago, Illinois. A proud graduate of Salem High School, Class of 1971, Gail went on to earn an Associate’s Degree in Accounting from Ivy Tech Technical College in Sellersburg, Indiana.
Throughout most of her life, Gail devoted herself to being a loving homemaker and a stay-at-home grandmother, cherishing every moment spent caring for her grandchildren. She had a true passion for crocheting, cooking, and baking, and her love for her family, especially her grandchildren, was evident in everything she did.
On April 6, 1991, she married Kermit Stewart, and together, they made their home in Pekin, where they enjoyed a life filled with love and laughter.
Gail was preceded in death by her parents, Dirk and Alice Cook.
She is survived by her husband, Kermit Stewart; her daughter, Kristy (Syl) Johnson; her son, Travis (Susan) Burman; her daughter, Yariah (Ryan) Stewart; her sisters, Val (Tim) Catlett and Carol Cook; her grandchildren, Jayla Burman, Cheyenne Burkett, Sterling Stewart, Stella Stewart, and Sawyer Stewart; and her beloved pets and faithful companions, Benji and Angel Grace.
Visitation will be held at Love Funeral Home in Palmyra, Indiana, on Tuesday, March 4, 2025, from 2:00 PM to 8:00 PM, and again on Wednesday, March 5, 2025, from 11:00 AM to 12:00 PM. Funeral services will follow on Wednesday, March 5, 2025, at 12:00 PM.
