Earl H Book

Earl H. Book, age 92, passed away surrounded by his family on September 16, 2021. He was born March 06, 1929 to the late Anna (Jacobi) and Edward Book. He was a graduate of Morgan Township High School and earned a Business Degree from Bellarmine University. After serving his country in the Air Force during the Korean War, Earl began a very successful career in business. He served as Vice President of Jacobi Sales, working in Palmyra, and later as President of Carriage Ford in Clarksville, Indiana. His other responsibilities and honors include President of Harrison County Bank Board of Directors, First Harrison Bank Board of Directors, Harrison County Community Foundation, Past President of the Ford Dealer Development, and the Indiana Implement Dealer Association. A lifelong member of St. Michael’s Catholic Church in Bradford, Indiana. Earl was instrumental in the planning and completion of the Life Center and Faith Formation building project. Earl was also a member of St. John’s the Evangelist Catholic Church in Naples, Florida. His interests included golf, horse racing, an avid love for Cincinnati Reds baseball, all sports “Hoosier”, and spending his twilight years in Naples, Florida.

Earl and his wife, Mary Jane (Uhl) enjoyed 68 wonderful years together and were blessed with 8 children:  sons, Kevin – Palmyra, Tim (Shelly) – New Salisbury, Bruce (Kathy) – Elizabethtown, KY, Scott (Marilyn), Dean (Lisa), Doug (Chris), Marty (Kathy) – all of Floyds Knobs, and a daughter, Anita (Steve) Boone – New Albany. Surviving are 15 grandchildren and 8 great-grandchildren. Preceding Earl in death were his parents, brothers, Charles and Robert Book, his granddaughter, Jamie Book, and his daughter-in-law, Susan Book.

The family wishes to thank the staffs of Cobalt Rehab and Guerin Woods for the compassionate care. Special thanks to Dr. Richard Medley and his associates at First Urology. Also, thanks to Dr. Monty Hocker for his exceptional medical care. And thank you to Father Aaron Pfaff, Father John Fink, Father Fred Dennison, Father Mike Hillenbrand, and Nadine Kaelin for their friendship and spiritual ministries.

Visitation – Monday, September 20, 2021, at St. Michael’s Church Life Center, located at 11400 Farmers Ln NE, Greenville, IN 47124  from 2 p.m. to 8 p.m. Funeral service will be held on Tuesday, September 21,  2021, at St. Michael’s Church at 10:00 a.m. followed by burial at the church cemetery.

Masks – For the health and safety of everyone, the family requests that you please wear a mask during visitation and the funeral.
