Earl Maurice Baker, age 78, of Palmyra, Indiana, passed away peacefully on July 20, 2025.
He was born on July 23, 1946, in Palmyra, Indiana, to Logan and Garnet (Hoten) Baker. A proud graduate of Morgan Township High School, Class of 1964, Earl spent his life dedicated to working the land as a dairy, hay, and grain farmer on his beloved farm in Palmyra.
During his high school years, Earl served as an officer in the FFA (Future Farmers of America), a reflection of his lifelong passion for agriculture. He was also deeply involved in his faith community, serving as a song leader for both the Corydon and Palmyra Church of Christ at various times. Earl’s love for singing, bowling, and the simple joys of farm life brought him lasting happiness and connection with those around him.
Earl was preceded in death by his parents; his brothers, Lawrence Baker and Darrell Baker; and his nephew, Todd Baker.
He is survived by his nephew, Larry (JoAnn) W. Baker; nephew, Jerry (Gwen) Baker; niece, Sherri Timberlake; niece, Terri (Dennis) Wilson; and niece, Tammy (Ben) Bedell.
Visitation will be held on Wednesday, July 23, 2025, from 2:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., and again on Thursday, July 24, 2025, from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. at Love Funeral Home in Palmyra, Indiana.
A funeral service will follow at 12:00 p.m. on Thursday at the funeral home.
Burial will take place at Palmyra Cemetery.
Earl will be remembered for his quiet strength, warm spirit, and enduring commitment to faith, family, and farming.
