Doris Mae Smith

Doris Mae (Endres) Smith, age 81, passed away peacefully on March 25, 2025 at her home in Palmyra, Indiana.

Doris was born on April 21, 1943, in New Albany, IN, to Theodore Endres and Lillian (Frederick) Mosier. She was a 1961 graduate of Morgan Township High School and spent much of her life dedicated to her family and home. Doris worked as a homemaker, where she found joy in nurturing her loved ones and creating a warm and loving environment.

On September 15, 1963, Doris married Gary Smith. Together, they built a life in Palmyra, where Doris was a member of the South Liberty Church of Christ. She had a deep faith and cherished her time with her church family.

Doris loved to spend her days gardening, crocheting, cooking, and canning, hobbies that brought her great satisfaction. She also enjoyed singing and found much joy in the company of her family and friends. Her kind spirit, and warm heart made her beloved by all who knew her.

She is preceded in death by her parents; her son, Ted Smith; and her brother-in-law, Jack Schuman.

Doris is survived by her devoted husband, Gary Smith; daughter, Kathy (Pete) Barry; sister, Pearl Schuman; brother, Dennis Mosier; daughter-in-law, Jane Smith; grandchildren: Brandon (Natalie) Smith, Zach (Michaela) Smith, Emily (Austin) Leupp, Luke Barry, Rachel Smith, Elana (Anthony) Taylor, Anna Smith, Erin Barry; and great-grandchildren: Katie, Abigail, Lincoln, Elora, Felicity, Alaric, Honor, Valor, Adamar, Blaire, Wrenley, and Rowan.

Visitation will be held on Sunday, March 30, 2025, from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM, and again on Monday, March 31, 2025, from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM at Love Funeral Home in Palmyra, IN.

A funeral service will take place on Monday, March 31, 2025, at 11:00 AM, with burial to follow at Martinsburg Cemetery in Martinsburg, IN.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to St. Jude Children's Hospital, which was a foundation close to Doris' heart.
