Donna Bishop Obituary

Donna Jean (O'Brien) Bishop, age 53, of Palmyra, Indiana, passed away peacefully in her sleep on June 2, 2025. Born on December 9, 1971, in Louisville, KY, Donna was the cherished daughter of Donald “Dink” Leroy and Norma Jean (Jackson) O’Brien.

Donna graduated from the Galen School of Nursing as a Registered Nurse and spent much of her career at Wedge Wood Healthcare Center, where she specialized as a Wound Care Nurse. It was there that Donna found her true calling: providing compassionate care to her patients. Her approach to nursing was rooted in empathy, as she strived to treat every resident as if they were family, a practice she often shared with new health care workers: "If you treat every one of your patients like they are someone you love, then you will never go wrong when caring for them."

A dedicated educator and cancer warrior, Donna was passionate about helping others and living life with purpose. She lived her life with an open heart, and her resilience was a testament to her strength and courage. On May 20, 2014, she married her soulmate, Dennis Bishop. Together, they shared 11 years of love and companionship.

Donna was also a lover of Christmas, a time when she would create special memories with her family. Above all, her greatest pride and joy was being a mother. She often said that her most significant accomplishment in life was raising her strong, resilient, and loving daughter, Marlaina Grace, who she considered her best friend. Donna’s only regret was not taking more time to savor the simple moments of good health, good days, and good times with the people she loved most.

In addition to her parents and daughter, Gabrielle Miranda O’Brien Eveslage, Donna was preceded in death by her brother, Michael Wayne Bentley, her brother David Allen O’Brien, and her sister Judith Wilson; and her beloved dog Tori.

She is survived by her beloved husband, Dennis Bishop; her daughter, Marlaina Grace (Andrew) Battista; daughter Ashley E. Eveslage; grandsons Xavier Cain and Knox Cain; sister Phyllis Bentley; sister-in-law Theresa Bentley; niece Angie Bentley; nephew Michael W. (Tiffany) Bentley Jr.; great-nephew Dakota Cotton; great-nieces Brooklyn Cotton and Raven M. Bentley; ex-husband Gary Eveslage; as well as her cherished pets, Callie and Meeko. Donna will also be missed by many aunts, uncles, friends, coworkers, and residents whose lives she touched with her kindness and compassion.

A visitation will be held on Thursday, June 5, 2025, from 2:00 pm to 8:00 pm and again on Friday, June 6, 2025, from 10:00 am to 12:00 pm at Love Funeral Home, Palmyra, IN. Funeral services will be held on Friday, June 6, 2025, at 12:00 pm at Love Funeral Home, with burial to follow at Palmyra Cemetery.

Donna’s legacy of love, compassion, and strength will live on in the hearts of all who knew her. May she rest in peace.
