Christel Martha Marie (Wrobel) Willian

Christel Martha Marie Willian, beloved wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, passed away on June 5, 2024, at the age of 97, at Guerin Woods in Georgetown, IN.

Born on September 20, 1926, in Berlin, Germany, to Hans and Johanna Wrobel, Christel's life journey took her across continents and through the embrace of family, love, and cherished moments. She dedicated her working years as a Seamstress, crafting beauty through her skilled hands and creative spirit.

On February 14, 1948, Christel married Ervin Willian. Together, they made their home in Greenville, IN, where Christel enriched the community with her warmth and grace.

A devoted member of the Greenville Christian Church, Christel found joy in fellowship and faith. She was known for her passion for entertaining, setting tables that were a reflection of her elegant taste and generous spirit. Gardening, cooking, and reveling in the company of friends and family were among her greatest pleasures, each moment embraced with zest and enthusiasm.

Christel's life was one of boundless talent and vivacity, touching the hearts of all who knew her. She is preceded in death by her parents, Hans and Johanna Wrobel, her beloved husband, Ervin Willian, and her brothers, Gerd Wenziger and Horst Wrobel.

Left to cherish her memory are her daughters, Carmen (Corky) Lang and Conni (Craig Peay) Gesenhues, along with her adoring grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Andrew (Ann) Lang, Max (Jennifer) Gesenhues, and Gus (Hope) Gesenhues, Molly Gesenhues, Homer, Chaucer, and Baerli, and Francis Gesenhues who will carry her legacy of love forward, each a testament to her enduring spirit.

A visitation will be held on Saturday, June 8, 2024, from 10 am to 1 pm at Love Funeral Home, Palmyra, IN, followed by funeral services at 1 pm. Christel will be laid to rest in the Palmyra Cemetery, a peaceful final resting place for a life well-lived.

The family extends their heartfelt gratitude to all of Christel's caregivers at Guerin Woods in Villa 8, whose compassionate care brought comfort and solace in her final years.
