Chris "Hammy" Hillegas
New Albany, IN Chris "Hammy" Hillegas, age 56, passed away peacefully Wednesday March 4, 2020 at his home. He was born in New Albany, IN on June 25, 1963 to Harry Dean Hillegas and Sylvia Jeanette (Holder) Hillegas. Hammy was a volunteer sports coordinator for the Floyd County Parks Department and volunteer assistant coach for the IUS Girls Softball Team. He was a big fan of IUS Girls Softball, Horse racing, the Nashville Predators, and the Pittsburgh Steelers. He also had a unique gift for meteorology. He is preceded in death by his parents.

Chris is survived by one brother Delbert (Cathy) Hillegas, two sisters Donna (Jim) Hillegas and Lori Hillegas, one nephew Brian Hillegas, and two nieces Sarah Hillegas and Madeline Langdon.

Funeral service will be at 3:00 p.m. Sunday March 8, 2020 at the Love Funeral Home in Palmyra with burial in the Martinsburg Cemetery. Visitation will be from 1:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m. Sunday March 8, 2020. In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts may be made to the IUS Girls Softball Team, 4201 Grantline Road, New Albany, IN 47150.
