Charles "Charlie" S. Herbert

Charles (Charlie) S. Herbert, age 68, of Pekin, IN. passed away at his home early December 25, 2020.

Charles was born October 18, 1952 in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania to Sebastian and Erna (Oppl) Herbert.  He was a 1971 graduate of Eastridge High School in Rochester, New York.  Charles retired from Local Union Hall 795 where he worked as a laborer. 

Charles was a family man who loved his family and spending time with them, especially his grandkids.  He also loved being outdoors where he enjoyed fishing, hunting and camping. 

Charles is survived by his wife, Rita F. (Porter) Herbert whom he married May 15, 1981; his daughter Melissa (TJ) Mansfield of New Salisbury, his son Matthew (Selena) Herbert of Palmyra; his four grandchildren Logan and Aeryn Mansfield, Stella and Matthew Jr. Herbert.  He is also survived by his five siblings: a brother, Raimund Herbert, four sisters, Elleanor Callen, Erna Goodwin, Virginia Herbert, Michelle Chastain (Leon); as well as several nieces and nephews. 

Charles is preceded in death by his parents.

Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. on Saturday January 2, 2021 at Love Funeral Home in Palmyra, Indiana.  Visitation will be the same day from 10 a.m. until the time of service.
