Charles David Avery, Sr., age 72, of Palmyra, Indiana, passed away on Tuesday, September 3, 2025.
Born on January 31, 1953, in Shelbyville, Kentucky, Charles was the son of Leo Avery and Ruby McNear. A hardworking and dedicated man, Charles owned and operated Avery Tree Service, where he worked for many years as a skilled tree trimmer.
On January 26, 1971, Charles married the love of his life, Gayle (Harvey) Avery. Together, they made their home in Palmyra, Indiana, where they raised their family and shared a life filled with love and adventure. Charles enjoyed antique hunting, horse trading, and most of all, spending time with his beloved family.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Gayle Avery; his brothers Joe, Donnie, and Eddie Avery; and his sisters Elizabeth Devore and Catherine Banister.
Charles is survived by his sons: Charles “David” Avery, Jr. (Jody), Troy Avery (Lisa), and Chris Avery (Christina); his brother, James Avery; seven grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren. He will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.
Visitation will be held from 10:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. on Tuesday, September 9, 2025, at Love Funeral Home in Palmyra, Indiana. A funeral service will follow at 1:00 p.m., also at Love Funeral Home. Charles will be laid to rest at Abundant Life Memorial Gardens in New Albany, Indiana.
